Chain Link Fence Installation in Elizabeth City, NC
Chain link does one job and does it cheaply and well. It puts a secure, durable boundary around a space without blocking light, air or sightlines, and it asks almost nothing of you afterwards. For dog runs, work yards, storage areas, ball fields and back property lines it is still the most cost-effective fence on the market.
It has a reputation for looking industrial. Black vinyl-coated mesh has largely dealt with that — against a tree line it comes close to disappearing, which is the opposite of what most people expect from chain link.
What to specify
- Finish: galvanized, or vinyl-coated in black or green
- Heights from 4 ft residential up to 12 ft for commercial and recreational work
- 9- or 11-gauge mesh — 9 gauge where security or larger animals are the concern
- Top rail for a rigid, finished line, or top tension wire were cost matters more
- Walk gates, double drive gates and cantilever slide gates
- Barbed arms and privacy slats for commercial and industrial sites
For dogs
Height should follow the dog rather than the yard: many dogs clear a 4 ft fence without much effort. For a determined digger, a bottom tension wire, ground stakes or a concrete mow strip along the line will usually settle it. We will ask about the dog before we quote, because it changes the specification more than the size of the yard does.
Repairs and replacement
Chain link is the most repairable fence there is. Stretched mesh can be re-tensioned, bent posts and rails swapped out, and gates re-hung. Before replacing a run, let us look at it — there is often less wrong with it than it appears.
