On the coast, vinyl earns its keep. Salt air is what eventually takes down wood and rusts steel, and vinyl is indifferent to it. It will not rot, it will not rust, and it never needs painting, staining or sealing. For a lot of homeowners in Pasquotank, Camden and Currituck counties, that is the whole argument.


The trade-off is worth stating plainly. Vinyl costs more up front than wood. What you are buying with the difference is the next fifteen years of not thinking about the fence: no re-staining every second or third season, no replacing boards that cupped over a wet summer, no rust streaks. Mild soap and a hose is the entire maintenance routine.

Wind is the thing to plan for

A solid 6 ft privacy panel catches a great deal of storm wind, and out here that is not a theoretical concern. Post spacing, post depth and panel selection all change with how exposed a property is. We do not install the same way on a sheltered in-town lot as on open water frontage, and if your property is exposed, we will tell you what that means for the specification before you commit to it.

Repairs and replacement


If your fence is leaning, if posts have gone soft at the ground line, or if a storm took out a section, we repair wood fence as well as install it. Often a handful of posts and a few panels will buy you several more years, and we will tell you when that is the sensible option. We will also tell you when it is not.
